A Wind Squall strikes a stand of Aspen

The road to South Lake follows the South Fork of Bishop Creek and for much of it's length, a thick and healthy Aspen forest. In some stretches the Aspen are tall and imperious when clad in their autumn colours. I have photographed here several times as it really is a special place. As I had my camera setup this occassion a wicked wind squall passed down the mountain and roared through the trees tearing any loose leaves away away from their roots. They flew across the sky in a brief billiant swarm and I managed to catch a few photographs before the wind quieted and the scene settled down.
